Before we can think about performance improvements, you need to consider two things first. The first is obtaining a benchmark to understand how well your system is performing currently. Second, you need to determine your current requirements. For example, if your requirement is to complete a task in X amount of minutes, you need to ensure that you are meeting those requirements. Understanding your baseline performance and requirements is crucial for identifying areas for improvement and setting realistic performance goals.

To have a clear goal is important, first you should be able to know if the goal will be possible before you waste any resources and time. Understand your system requirements as part of your solution, aligning your goals with the solutions you provide, will give you a clear vision if the Goal will add value to your current system or not.

There are goals that includes personal development and company/department goals. While most goals are captured through the recommended SMART goals criteria, all goals should be preplanned by either the engineer and /or assisted by their supervisors/functionals/managers. That way, the goals are designed and crafted accordingly bearing both the employee that will be working those goals and the company’s required mandate based on their flow down from leadership.

Cohesiveness, communication, and performances tends to be a Teams’ interpersonal communication areas of much needed improvements. When it comes to Peer Reviewing, not every team prosper as such with all the given tools the industry has provided and/or is available. Often times, peer review of any work doesn’t get properly accomplished or worked on as prescribed. While feedbacks are generally positive, there are negative feedbacks that will only cause internal strife and conflict; this is not something most revenue based companies would want to standardized. This is however the reality of feedbacks, let alone continuous feedbacks.

To understand the route they took to solve a problem in any system, it will give you a clear indication of their skills, and if their skills do not affect the system, it means their skills can be improved, so that's when you know you have a good future engineer. Complexity of the system is in the mechanism and not integrations, you should have understanding of the mechanisms to be able to understand the period that will be required to produce high quality code.

Experience has a funny way of showing its value in the face of evaluations and metrics. While there are so many ways to measure the performance of any developers working on minor coding fixes to large scale code complexities, there is still work to be done and how those work and fixes get organized, captured and measured becomes a big task in itself. Start off with organizing each fixes as warranted or unwarranted with implications to the levels of float to the software being deployed. A well functioning and scalable project in system development that is well documented prior the launch, or deployment, has a better room for improvement by the team who contributed in the successful launch of the new feature or system. This will help the system developers improve their performance and skills by monitoring how effective and useful their innovations are to others. The project outcomes should be credited to the team who made it all possible. Every individual's contributions in any project, is attributed from their collaborative work of implemented solutions. Always get feedback from the users, to understand if the service or the product you are offering continues to solve their problems. Avoid thousands of features used by less than 30% of your users, you do not need a system with thousands of features while it address little to no need by your users. Improve what works and continue to learn knew technologies that helps you to move fast. Use the tools that your team are more compatible with. Do not ignore new technology is an opportunity. Remember basics "majority rules" if you use this in your system too, it will grow faster by focusing on the important part of your system.
