If clients often doubt the importance of phishing training then I relate to it too as I think the way we do it currently is flawed. Why? Yes there is good awareness for many about phishing but this is just the basic stuff and we have a much wider problem. Real phishing will not be detected by a user and I am concerned about the narrative of "users are a firewall". We have given users a mouse; they will click. So what do we do? We have to re-think and follow the flow. I work with so many who don't allow phishing to land. There is so much that can be done too that is invisible to the user. We need to also protect the user and share that we do. Then we need to enable the user by segmenting them, prioritise groups and tailor their education.

Of course, I can make a strong case for the importance of phishing awareness training. Having a solid grasp of "Phishing Basics" is absolutely essential.
