What's the best way to create an innovative team culture?

Cross channel software and tools such as trello, slack, notion and confluence will act as a incredibly powerful way to connect and provide collaboration and diversity across cross functional teams within any organizational structure. These tools allow a variety of team members and departments to be able to sync up ideas, project tasks and action items, while providing a equal chance for every member to utilize and leave unique feedback.

I believe that promoting collaboration and diversity is one of the most important things that organizations can do to be successful. When people from different backgrounds and with different perspectives come together, they are more likely to come up with new and innovative ideas. It is important to remember that promoting collaboration and diversity is not just about the right thing to do. It is also good for business. Organizations that promote collaboration and diversity are more likely to be successful in the long run. Letting your team know that you value them and their ideas is most helpful. I think that if your employees know that you value their thoughts and ideas and you regularly request their feedback and insight, this will likely help them feel valued and then they may contribute more. This may even contribute to longevity at the organization. Reducing micromanaging is another factor. I believe micromanaging stifles creativity.

Trust is the glue that holds this empowerment together. Trust is not just about believing in your team's competence but also in their intentions. When team members know that their ideas won't be dismissed out of hand, they're more likely to take risks and share unconventional thoughts.

Probably one of the most important things to do as a manager is to give your team the space to debate ideas. As the manager, even if you feel very approachable, your words have massive impact on the direction of the discussion. Learn to play your chips only when needed, but even then, use them to spur the conversation. Don't make it my way or the highway. Nothing kills a creative spirit like a know-it-all manager.

In my team.... we have have a monthly plan of action based on the actual competition and market situation. We have this monthly program which we call Ideas Plus! Everyone is free to discuss their own ideas and innovations based on what's happening in the market. Ideas are then turned into marketing programs that most if the time produces outstanding results.. the team that gets the best results are given awards...I have been in Sales and Marketing for the past 29 years.... and most of the members of my team who were into these process are now successful marketing managers, Sales Managers, and Operations Managers...

When I started my current role over 3 years ago, I had to learn that failure was not a bad thing because it's a great teacher. Because my boss encouraged me not to fear failure, I was able to push the boundaries of my abilities a lot faster than if I had been highly cautious.

To foster continously innovation and creativity, the art of asking question is important. Always ask forward looking question without judgement to discover new possibilities or ideas from the team🙂

Train your team to have a sense of deep constructive critical thinking... Visualize concept before it's realization. As a leader always ask the question How? In these manner, the members of your team will develop into creative constructive thinkers that focuses more on the processes on how the ideas are formed. In that way, they become master of their own ideas

Having a scheduled time every month to research new trends is very important. As AI continues to advance, it's very important to be aware of how you can utilize it within your team. Many teams will have the chance to produce far more results with the same team but this is only possible if you're looking for innovation. Another way this can be done is through reading a book as a group and discussing how it could be implemented in your workflows.

Even is contra intuitive, innovation can be taught and can be made following a system. One of the easiest and most useful process that I found, for encouraging innovation, is presented by Renée Mauborgne and W. Chan Kim, in Blue Ocean Strategy. Basically, the whole idea of this approach is to avoid going head to head against your competitors, but looking for ways of expanding the market, buy creating new markets, untapped by your competitors. This can be achieved just by innovating. Is it hard, but once you manage to do it, you will have an entire market to flourish in, and even if the completions will arrive, you will still have the first in the category advantage.

To innovate in an industry, you can use the approach proposed by…. In the book. This is a simple, straightforward process, then can be applied to any niche. 1. What factors should be raised well above the industry level? 2. Which factors should be created that the industry never offered? 3. What factors should be eliminated, even if is an industry standard? 4. What factors should be reduced well below industry standard? Fallowing these steps, you can bring you one step closer to innovating in your industry.

Lead by example. The best way to build any culture is to show others. Of course you should be open to communication, allow the team to bring you ideas and present innovative solutions. If you hire the right people, you should value their opinions. But leading by example and guiding the team is incredibly important.
