Donors are like customers, and every successful business has multiple customer segments. For example, some donors will respond better to events, while other donors are shy and choose to be behind the scenes. Likewise, some donors will give, but only if they receive something in return (think address labels on the low end and naming rights on the high end). Still other donors want leadership/clout, and are willing to pay for it. Finally, never be surprised by what you would never do. 'Projectionism'- where you or others project what donors will or will not do- can be fatal. Test, test, and retest!
