What do you do if your team is resistant to organizational changes?

A brilliant CEO I had years ago, Irv Shapiro, once said a a company-wide meeting is that the only constant is change. It's true in life, at work and in ever facet of our lives. So, we can only control our behaviors. We may not like it, that's human, but how we react to it makes all the difference in the world. Ask yourself and your team, "the change is happening, we won't know for sometime if it's better or not, time will tell but for now it seems to be the best coarse of action; are you going to be part of the problem or the solution?" As uncomfortable as the proposed solution might seem, you need to decide if you are a team player or not. Maybe there is room for your ideas to make it better? Work within to tweak the idea!

Clear communication may seem like the obvious answer, but often this is the part that causes discord because it isn’t managed effectively enough. Employees want as sincere and transparent a dialogue as is possible. I believe it is possible even while protecting sensitive information and the company’s interests. Empower management even lower level people managers to have honest conversations, and offer employees the chance to open dialogue with key stakeholders in the change process.

TBH, 750 characters is no enough to do this topic justice. Recognizing efforts, even small helpful gestures, is mission critical. It's like voting in Chicago, early and often! It fosters motivation, self-esteem, comfortable collaboration, productivity and inspiration. It helps members feel like a valued member of the team not just the shadow of a narcissistic manager. It celebrates change and encourages others to participate. It's the project Managers and team leaders who need to be held accountable for not letting any team members fall through the cracks. If everyone from their perspective is looking for the win-win then the Change will reap unintended benefits and leave the team even stronger and more productive than before!
