What do you do if your students lack a growth mindset?
Encountering students who exhibit a fixed mindset can be a significant challenge in the classroom. A growth mindset, a term coined by psychologist Carol Dweck, refers to the belief that abilities and intelligence can be developed through dedication and hard work. In contrast, a fixed mindset is the belief that these traits are static and unchangeable. When students lack a growth mindset, they might avoid challenges, give up easily, and see effort as fruitless if they don't achieve immediate success. As an educator, your role is to help shift this perspective and encourage a love for learning that is resilient to setbacks.
