How do you use the clone stamp tool to remove unwanted elements from product photos?

1 Choose the clone stamp tool

The clone stamp tool is a powerful tool that allows you to copy pixels from one area of your image and paste them over another area. You can find it in the toolbar on the left side of your screen, or press S on your keyboard. To use it, you need to select a source point and a destination point. The source point is where you will copy the pixels from, and the destination point is where you will paste them over. You can adjust the size, shape, and hardness of the brush by using the options bar on the top of your screen.

2 Create a new layer

Before you start cloning, it is a good idea to create a new layer for your edits. This way, you can preserve the original image and have more control over your changes. To create a new layer, go to the layers panel on the right side of your screen, and click on the new layer icon at the bottom. Alternatively, you can press Ctrl Shift N on your keyboard. Name your layer something like "cloning" and make sure it is on top of your background layer.

3 Sample and clone

Now that you have a new layer and the clone stamp tool selected, you can start sampling and cloning. To sample a source point, hold down the Alt key and click on an area of your image that matches the color, texture, and lighting of the area you want to cover. A crosshair will appear to indicate your source point. Then, release the Alt key and move your cursor over the destination point, where you want to paste the pixels. A circle will appear to show your brush size and shape. Click and drag over the unwanted element to clone over it. You can repeat this process as many times as you need, until you cover all the unwanted elements in your image. You can also change your source point and brush settings as you go, to achieve a more natural and seamless result.

4 Fine-tune and save

After you finish cloning, you may want to fine-tune your edits and make sure they blend well with the rest of your image. You can use the opacity slider in the layers panel to adjust the transparency of your cloning layer, or use a soft eraser tool to erase any excess pixels. You can also use other tools and filters in Photoshop to enhance your image, such as cropping, resizing, sharpening, or adjusting the color and contrast. Once you are happy with your product photo, you can save it as a new file by going to File > Save As and choosing your preferred format and quality.
