Good Delegation is most important for SCALABILTY for 10-1000 phase in a startup. It's important to focus on most important tasks and delegate and automate all other tasks for high efficiency. There are various AI startups like Uipath etc and & Gen AI tools that helps in automation which increases speed alot.

Automations are important but don’t forget to document processes too. Create manuals with detailed steps, links and videos to help train any future employee who comes in on a regular process that is carried out. For example; a social media manager for a tech startup might need to have all the login information, know what softwares to use, brand guidelines and lots of information about the company. A well-documented process can articulate all of this. Not only does this help people and limit training time in future, but when things change (because they do) you know where in the process everything is and you can go back and amend these without everything breaking! More often than not, founders aren't the best when it comes to streamlining. And it's important to understand and accept this. In the beginning, everything you need to do, falls into one of two buckets; Now or Right Now. First, know that you need to be in two modes. Some days you need to 'work in the job' and some days you 'work on the job'. If you get to a stage where you need to streamline, congratulations! Many die way before they see this light. So start by allocating a day of the week to work on the job. This is basically automating tasks that are repetitive. But these won't bring you massive productivity gains. But you'll see the value. Then it'll be easier to identify someone who can streamline.

Keep adapting. Your startup’s needs will change as it grows - like children. Most of the time people waste time on people. - hiring the wrong people (this happens a lot in early stage startups or first time founders) - promoting the wrong people because they were the first employees - meetings. If you start thinking about meetings with costs associated and add up how much each person on the meeting is worth per hour you slowly start to realise you’re wasting time and therefore money. - relationships get damaged and culture changes But also poor planning. Startups are usually built on a whim. With the founder as the visionary changing it’s course every day based on gut instinct and not clear targets and goals.

The hardest part of scaling is the people. A lot can go wrong when scaling your organization: - people get promoted on false grounds, because they were the first employees - the CEO/founders keep too close to development and are micromanaging - the software is too much in one person's brain, and hard to take over by a team - new recruits need to 'know everything' before they can be productive, because the software is too monolithic - there's no proper high-level documentation - there's no formalized onboarding procedure with centralized, up-to-date information about code, data, procedures, policies, architectural patterns, infrastructure, tools, etc.

Scaling smart requires a clear thought out strategy. How can you maximise efforts with less oppex? (Operating expenses) How much demand can you handle before needing to hire more staff? These should all be questions you ask yourself before scaling up. When starting out, we manually logged every single process with videos and a step by step guide anyone could just pickup. Of course they needed updating regularly as a startup. This meant that anyone coming in could instantly gain access to any guide and be able to follow it without supervision. This increased productivity of new starters feeling less “lost” when in training my, and less strain on myself as a founder with less time spent training them.
