I create a business/strategic/operational plan that first digs deep into the Mission, Vision, and Value of the business. Then we walk through the eight areas of business that all small business owners need to work through. We do this with a series of questions and lots of talking about their business, the good, the bad, and the ugly. At the end, they have a plan to help them grow their business in a way that honors themselves and their business.

Yes, you should be monitoring and evaluating your plan on AT least a monthly basis; I suggest to my clients having a day, half-day, an hour each day, whatever works for them, to review the business. See what is working in each area of the business, what needs to shift, and what is NOT working at all, and make adjustments along the way. Businesses are "living" things happen, and having this time with your business helps both the owner and the business.
