Setting goals is crucial for providing direction and focus. Clear, achievable objectives motivate individuals, guide decision-making, and measure progress. Goals enhance productivity by breaking tasks into manageable steps, fostering accountability. They also inspire ambition, drive personal and professional growth, and ensure alignment with long-term visions and aspirations.

Sharing your knowledge with others is key to staying engaged and comes easily with those seeking to learn, occasionally how you explain or share things may be in a way that some find easier to absorb. Continue to learn new things even if it seems small and insignificant, sometimes baby steps are easier to take than drinking from a firehose.

Acredito que devemos antes de tudo, ter claro nossas metas pessoais diante da empresa. Por exemplo, desejo me tornar gestor em 5 anos, desejo ser reconhecido por maior faturamento etc. Assim temos um motivo claro para buscar engajamento todos os dias.

Na minha experiência, as metas funcionam muito como um norte. Mesmo que algo aconteça no meio do caminho e precise ajustá-las, ter metas smart relevantes pro negócio direciona decisões. É mais para poder criar o caminho enquanto caminha, do que apenas atingi-las. O aprendizado e o acerto vem do olhar pra meta. Planeje!

A goal is an important part of any development. Without a goal, there can be no plan for its realization. Without a plan, there will be no action. Without action, there will be no forward movement. Goal setting is an important part of growth.

I have a good experience from ”reverse mentoring”. I was part of setting up and participating in a program were we asked studets to mentor experienced leaders. Det Why? Well, the future is is nearer to the students. They live and are native in a world many leaders have to navigate in. We gave the participants training to learn and also unlearn their roles. Two important points: 1) especially the experienced folks have remember their role and do their home work as mentees 2) it is better with a clean sheet in terms of the relation i e the mentor and the mentee do not work in the same organisation The young woman that acted as my mentor impressed me. And I think she got some additional self esteem realising the value of her own experience.

I read an article a few years ago about this very subject. The phrase I most remember was that later in your career you should stop thinking in resume language and start thinking in eulogy language. At first I thought this was a bit sad. However, if you really think about it, where are my many years of experience best served? Plugging away at goals, objectives, KPIs,... That will advance the company and make more money. It would be much more impactful to share your knowledge and experience mentoring others. I can reach more people as a mentor versus chugging out projects. Ultimately, I would be more engaged and self fulfilled helping others grow and learn. Storytelling is a great way to connect.

With a career of a wide range of experience in different companies, cultures, industries and roles combined with a very approachable (as I've been told) personality, I have found myself being the mentor for a number of my peers, junior staff as well as even some of my leaders. Aside from my primary position, I have embraced these mentorship opportunities and view them as a means of "paying it forward" to the next generation of leaders and helping to set-up our company for success long after I'm retired. What I find especially rewarding in these engagements when I actually learn something new from my mentees. As life is an ongoing journey of learning, I especially love the opportunities where mentor and mentee each have takeaways.

Mentoring others will help you engaged yourself in the productive work which will help others to grow. This may give satisfaction for what have been achieved in career which is further going to be useful for others in their growth path. This will also help to know your own mistakes, if any have been done while going through your career path.

Knowledge is always for sharing. It will grow more when you share it; spread it. Mentoring is a part of this process where we are making aware our colleagues, friends for battlefield ahead in their professional life. It is not always possible to experience each and everything by oneself, most of them can be learned from mentors very easily.

Diversifying roles is crucial for maintaining engagement and motivation in late career stages. Seek opportunities to expand skills, take on new challenges, and explore different aspects of your field. Embrace lifelong learning through training, mentorship, or pursuing certifications. Actively seek projects that align with your interests while offering growth potential. Engaging in cross-functional teams or mentoring junior colleagues can provide fresh perspectives and keep your passion alive. By embracing versatility and adapting to changing demands, you can continue to thrive and find fulfillment in your late career journey.

I’ve always believed innovation occurs at the intersection of disciplines. Some of the greatest inventions were those that did not meet their mark for their original intent, but instead created an entirely new market in a different industry or disrupted the status quo. Also stepping back and looking at a product from a marketing lens or with a grander perspective not so immersed in the details of the development opens opportunities for additional growth beyond an intended purpose. Lastly, adding perspectives like sustainability, dematerialization, and manufacturability can lead to a more robust product.

One way to develop is by exploring new areas of activity. The wider the scope of research, the greater the benefit. Venturing beyond your usual responsibilities opens up new perspectives, giving you a fresh outlook on familiar things. This shift can be attributed to embracing change in general. Never stop searching for your strengths.

Diversification of roles gives you wider horizon of thinking and multi dimensional prospective. This makes you better in role as time progresses. You are also in the position to share and listen more appropriately.

Diversifying my role within product development has reinvigorated my career. Starting as a Senior Cellular RF Engineer, I built a strong technical foundation. Transitioning into Project Management roles in manufacturing and the semiconductor industry revealed new strengths and interests. At Samsung Semiconductor, I managed RF software lifecycle projects, blending technical knowledge with strategic planning. At Cummins and Silicon Labs, I led product validation and Agile project execution. This shift from technical to strategic roles has been refreshing, enhancing my skills and keeping my career dynamic and exciting.

This can be a challenging area to work on over time. History becomes a barrier to some people's ability to collaborate. I encourage others to find any common ground to use to keep these collaborations going. Remember that the ultimate result will be better the more voices are in the room. Collaborate often as a normal course of business and this will enhance your ability to call on collaborators when needed.

Collaborate! Collaborate! Collaborate! This cannot be overemphasized. In product management, success as a lone individual is nearly impossible. Collaboration is the lifeblood of product development. Engaging with different teams and departments can offer fresh insights and spark innovative ideas. Try to find opportunities to collaborate with people from different departments and walk up to co-workers in need of help. This not only opens many more possible contacts for you to meet but also the environment is usually interesting and may even keep you engaged. Always pride yourself in the concept of the group work through innovations to be able to achieve better outcomes.

My corporate job requires collaboration 100% of the time. I have learned over my many years in my field that, without collaboration, there is poor selling and more finger pointing. When everyone can work together toward the same goal, hearing each others concerns and sharing each others challenges and successes helps to create a cohesive team that can overcome almost anything. Why wait for team building exercises when you can come together and share on a daily basis. Remember that you are not alone in making decisions. Collaboration keeps everyone accountable and provides a sense of teamwork and community. Ask about the role of others on your team to see the work from a new perspective!

Embracing change, setting goals, diversifying, collaborating and reflecting will hold one in good stead whatever the stage of one’s career. Additionally, at this stage, I have found REVERSE MENTORING to be a great way to refresh, up skill and get a very different generational perspective on life and leadership. Another thing is to purposefully hold on to JOY in what you do and be clearheaded about following the path that continues to provide it in what you do.

The art of career reflection involves introspective analysis of achievements, challenges, and growth. It requires assessing skills, identifying passions, and recognising patterns in professional experiences. By contemplating goals, values, and aspirations, individuals gain clarity and direction. This process fosters personal development, informs future decisions, and aligns career paths with one's evolving ambitions and strengths.

Part of the reflection can be on considering the remaining part of your career as a new start. Focusing on the past and your achievements is great, if you can manage the weight of your failures and any negative thoughts that can emerge. To play safe, just look ahead at what you can do starting from today.

It's tough, but find time outside of the day-to-day to sit down and think and look back on what's going on - don't just continue to barrel ahead on the current trajectory. You can set aside that time by scheduling your day for meetings to only occur in the afternoon or mornings. Give yourself that uninterrupted time.

To set the goals with proactive and resulting oriented approaches with in describe timeline. Regular reflection on your profession successes and tasks can convey clarity and motivation.

There are few things which can be done - - Join some public platforms which give opportunity to share and learn new ideas. - Try to go deep dive inside (Self talk) and see what is still there to give a kick to continue engage and start a new. - Meet elderly people with age 70 yrs and listen to them. I am sure, you will get good motivation or way of life further.

Reflective glory within an organisation. Occurs when individual achievements enhance the collective reputation. Employees' successes reflect positively on the organisation, fostering pride and loyalty. This mutual benefit drives higher performance and morale. Recognising and celebrating these accomplishments publicly reinforces a culture of excellence, inspiring others to strive for similar achievements and contributing to overall organisational success.
