As an example in recruitment, the obvious answer is to recruit the best you can and add as many valuable people as possible. Outside of this, can you work with stakeholders on future-ready plans for workforce. Become an expert in your niche and realise where the market is going and advise your business accordingly. Make suggestions about way's to improve and become more efficient.

Communication is key, always. The "why" and "how" is often lost in a work setting. For example, a manager may well tell you what you should be do but lack the explanation. Often, when we understand the reasoning behind the action, we perform better. Managers/Leaders - always show your working out, as your maths tutor used to say!
