Keep everyone informed with regular updates - clear, concise, and jargon-free! Be adaptable! Sustainable materials can be unpredictable, so have backup options that still meet your eco-goals. Prioritise tasks based on both environmental impact and deadlines. Focus on the essentials for a truly green design, even if it means minor tweaks elsewhere.

Sustainable or not I like to set timelines for my projects from the beginning. It gets all parties on board as to how long I think the project will take, while also letting them know when they will be needed. Does this always work, no, but it helps to point to. It's the "Do Not Run" sign. When things get off course you can point to the timeline, remember this? Hopefully its gets things back on track. Being thorough with a timeline also benefits us professionally. It provides ease having charted a path instead of sailing into the fog. When there are clear goals people can track progress and thus feel like they have some sort of control in a world maybe they are a bit unfamiliar.

In your initial planning communication styles should be discussed as well. I usually give my partner a check in day where I provide a progress report and then of course as proofs are exchanged there is more communication. Again having a set day is like calling your grandma. She expects it and that trains her to not question if you're safe on Friday because she hasn't heard from you. Now miss your check in day and that's a different story, but again stay on target and our partner feels involved and having some overview of the project, which brings relief.
