One aspect that should not be forgotten or underestimated is ensuring that the consumer understands that this is a sustainable material. Many products on the market that are perceived as sustainable are often a greater environmental harm. For example, packaging made entirely from one type of plastic can be directly returned to the cycle of the same plastic. Packaging that, for instance, appears to be paper but contains food, needs to be lined inside with plastic or something similar. This packaging can no longer be recycled because the plastic cannot be separated from the paper. To the end customer, the paper packaging seems more sustainable, but in this case, pure plastic is actually better.

Trabajar un ciclo cerrado del producto con retorno a la empresa que lo fabrica, para reciclar, reutilizar piezas o reacondicionar productos . Estas iniciativas pondrían en muy buen lugar a las empresas y ayudarían a reducir los residuos que generan sobre todo en materiales contaminantes.

Energy efficiency is of great importance in the field of design. I believe users should be informed to a certain extent and be given the opportunity to be part of the energy generation process. Of course, this approach cannot be applied to every product, and not everyone is interested in generating energy. People buy things for various good reasons, whether it's to enhance their mood, solve a problem, or something else. Ultimately, every product evokes an emotion, and the best emotion to associate with a product is joy. So, I ask myself: how can we involve people in energy generation with products while still ensuring they enjoy the product? This could be an interesting approach for product development.

It's unfortunate that we've developed such a throwaway culture. Old machines, like sewing machines, were once very complex devices and masterpieces of engineering. Yet, it was still possible to replace every single part. Nowadays, many new products, such as sewing machines, laptops, phones, and more, are glued together so tightly that they are almost impossible to disassemble, leaving disposal as the only option. The question is, how can we return to a society where it's possible to replace parts and repair our products?

Es un sistema sostenible óptimo, desplazado por la producción masiva de los últimos años, normalizado por la sociedad actual por la cultura de usar y tirar. Es una cuestión de educación social y respeto social el volver a edtos sistemas anteriores a la producción masiva.

La fabricación a gran escala ha hecho que todo se mueva mucho más rápido y hace más fácil tirar que sustituir. Debería estar en el centro de las empresas como diferenciación ofrecer productos de reemplazo para las máquinas sobre todo con costes elevados. Sin embargo, no suele interesar. Ese cambio cultural quizás llegue cuando sea demasiado tarde para el planeta. Lo que sí podemos hacer como consumidores es apostar por marcas que si lo hacen y tener en cuenta que invertir en sus productos a la larga es rentable para todos.

While doing this, realize that smart also means doing less. Products that are complex are difficult to service. If a sensor shuts down a product that is hardly using power, it may be just a fancy trick.

Consider blending an LCA tool with AI. Life cycle analysis tools can be really helpful to measure a products environmental impact but it can be overwhelming to take in and sort out all the data. An AI is a great help for this kind of things.

In my perspective not only the final users of a product should be sensible to the sustainable features of the product but the education to the sustainable aspect should start already in the supply chain where the product takes life. Providing simple instructions, also through digital manuals, to all the levels in the supply chain could help providing a more consciousness of what is more or less efficient in a sustainable point of view, leading to a reduction in expenses and waste in the assembly phase of a product.

When the users are educated about the sustainable features of your product, they tend to make more conscious choices that benefit the environment. I believe providing clear instructions for taking care of the product and an expiry can be beneficial for increasing the product lifespan. The manuals for the product can be digital and could include embedded animations for better understanding. Proper instructions about disassembly of parts should also be provided for a good recycling experience. It would in turn affect the brand image positively.

You have to understand the consumption economy that was pumped to consumers since 1970's. Durability is not the focus of the manufacturer, quality is random what the consumer seeks, "now" economy pushes people to look for what they want and order it online so the look and feel come after purchase, and products using eco-material are only a marginal concern...under these circumstances, we could only start to educate our users with sustainable products that meet the affordances; ease of use, light, economical, practical smart design that will be preferred over the other designs...Flexing our empathy muscle like a yogi and using Rams' principles with sustainable new material and manufacturing systems is the key!

More fixable design, make design take part more easier. Current designing mind is thinking more compact and small is better. And how hard to fix for last user is better . Because if it fixable hard to sell new one. But selling products piece by piece more profitable and stable. If last user able fix it. They will stick the product. But if they need to change all in any situation, probably can try another option at each problem.
