This is certainly even more true in the face of a layoff. After executing my own skills-gap assessment, I pursued and completed a credential in Artificial Intelligence for Business Strategy - an area that I wish to make a higher-level contribution to in my business engagements. As a result of completing this course, I feel better equipped to participate in topical discussions around AI, and to author my own thought leadership on the course topics. For myself, completing this course has opened up many doors. For instance, I've recently been asked to participate in a podcast episode on AI and Partnerships. Continuous learning is an area that I truly believe you get out - what you put in.

As a partnership expert, you’d be skilled in business development and market intelligence, these skills will come in handy when going into consulting. You could also add some volunteering on the side for startups looking to match service providers. This allows you to stay connected, be informed of market trends, network and of course make some extra income.

Go both horizontally and vertically within your industry. For instance, if you managed supermarket partnerships, you could look for similar roles in other supermarkets (horizontal move). Or, you could take a vertical leap and explore partnerships within the supermarket supply chain, like with wholesalers, logistics companies, or packaging firms.
