Embracing change is important. But also difficult. I use a simple acronym to underline these two points when I'm coaching individuals. When change hits, I ask them to embrace it as an AFGO. The A stands for Another, the G stands for Growth. The O stands for Opportunity. I will leave the F to your imagination, but let's juts say that's the word that underlines the difficulty of changing

Business change initiatives fail when we fail to connect both the technical and the people aspects of change. We can implement new systems, technologies, ways of working and approaches but if we do not take into consideration that these changes can only be successful if people adopt the new ways of working, then all that technical expertise and investment will be for naught. People process change in different ways: some run straight at it, others resist and others have questions. 1) always explain the why behind the change -- what drove the decision, why must it happen now, what is the risk to all stakeholders of not changing 2) pain a clear picture of the future -- help others see what is possible and what is in it for them
