John, it’s good to see your presence again. I admire the fact that you truly, sincerely, personally want the people you are responsible for to be safe in all conditions. My company does SIRE inspections every day. Vessel owners know they need it, but they hate to have to go through it. We try to have a conversation about best practices we’ve seen. We try to share everything we can to help them stay safe. We strongly believe in ISM because it focuses on the safety of the mariner. We were hired by a major oil company to develop an audit protocol for employees to audit their own operations. It is a peer to peer audit that can be used by anyone in the company. So far it has been very successful. All the best to you and BP.

We have been working on changing that culture by helping them to realize we value them reporting unsafe acts, conditions and near-misses, as well as conducting inspections. It’s a slow process but we have seen improvement.
