Experience

Ryan is a technology writer who has been writing how-to and other technology-based articles online since 2007. He was a Group Editor for Technology and Automotive channels at LoveToKnow.com, and served as the Managing Editor of MakeUseOf.com from 2014-2017. He also writes for Help Desk Geek, Online Tech Tips, and SwitchingtoMac.com.

Ryan has had a long career in technology to fuel his writing. Since 1998, he worked for Pratt & Whitney as an automation engineer for 13 years, automating complex manufacturing equipment using programming logic controllers (PLCs), as well as developing HMI interfaces.

Switching careers in 2011, Ryan went to work as a Senior IT Analyst for Corning Life Sciences, where he helped manage manufacturing IT needs like weekly tape backups and managing facility IT hardware and equipment. His primary role was as an OSI PI Systems Analyst, developing and maintaining manufacturing data-collection and data analysis systems. Currently, he works for Eastman Chemical as a overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) leader focused on manufacturing digitalization.

Deep technical experience spanning over 20 years has helped Ryan develop an appreciation for what aspects of technology people struggle with, and how to fill those knowledge gaps for readers. He's a fan of streaming music and movies, uses Google and Microsoft apps to get things done, and is always looking for and testing new software and hardware.

Ryan's success both offline and online led to numerous public speaking opportunities. He presented at the OSIsoft National Conference in San Francisco in 2014 and has been featured on national TV (History Channel and Canada's Vision TV), as well as radio and various podcasts.

A Message from Ryan Dube

The greatest reward for me is when a reader reaches out and tells me that one of my articles helped them accomplish something with technology that they were struggling with, and couldn't find the answer anywhere else.
