iPad Pro (2024) Specs and Features

The 2024 iPad Pro comes in both 11- and 13-inch versions with silver and Space Black finishes. Apple touted it as the thinnest product they've ever released.

The 11-inch Pro is 0.21 inches thick and weighs 0.98 pounds, while the 13-inch one is 0.20 inches thick and weighs 1.28 pounds. For comparison, the previous iPad Pro weighed 1.5 pounds and was 0.25 inches thick.

True to rumors, iPad Pro gets an OLED screen called the Ultra Retina XDR. It's actually two panels, Apple calls "Tandem OLED." This setup delivers up to 1,000 - 1,600 nits of brightness. The display also has a nano-texture glass option for less glare.

Nano-texture glass is available as a $100 add-on for iPads with at least 1TB of storage.

We'd heard the iPad Pro would run on the Apple M3 chip, but they're skipping straight to M4. This chip has four performance cores and six efficiency cores for more speed than the M2 while using less power. It also has a 10-core GPU for gaming and graphic design. The new Neural Engine can run up to 38 trillion operations per second.

Apple said that the M4's CPU is 50% faster than the M2 chip that runs the previous iPad Pro models, and the GPU is four times faster.

The iPad Pro camera also got an update. It has a 12MP back camera with a Lidar scanner and a True Tone flash, which Apple says makes scanning documents easier. The front camera is on the landscape (long) edge of the iPad, just like with the iPad Air 6, for wide video calls.

Storage options for these models range from 256GB to 2TB, dropping the 128GB option from the last generation.

Finally, we saw new models of the Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard, the latter of which has a row of function keys to control screen brightness and other settings. It also has a larger trackpad than previous versions and an aluminum rest that makes the whole thing look pretty close to a MacBook. You"ll pay $299 for the 11-inch keyboard and $349 for the 13-inch one.
