After Duke Ulrich had introduced the Reformation, all the monks had to leave the monastery in 1536. The monastery school, which was set up after 1556, was closed in 1595 closed again.

From the monastery church, completed in the late twelfth century, remains of the vestibule with Romanesque elements and the west gable can be seen. The wonder pine:
A stately pine tree grows on the old cloister wall of Paradise in the Romanesque vestibule of the former Cistercian monastery Bad Herrenalb. Around 200 years ago, the tree moved into its unusual place on the historic walls. Apparently without contact with the ground, the question arises as to how the tree can thrive and grow in this place. The roots of the pine have made their way through the walls down to the ground. This provides the tree with the important nutrients and water. Incredible!
