From the parking lot between the Weinfelder Maar and the Schalkenmehrener Maar, a path climbs uphill to the Dronketurm on äumeberg. There you have a panoramic view that extends as far as the Hunsrück when the weather is good. You can also see all three maars from here – Schalkenmehrener, Gemündener and Weinfelder Maar. Reason enough to take a short break here.

From the Dronketurm on the Mäuseberg you will definitely be rewarded with a direct view of the Gemündener Maar, which is worth a trip in every season. The platform on which the tower is located is ideal for enjoying the breathtaking view for a little longer and taking a breather in the wooden benches and loungers built for it.

The Adolf Dronke Tower on the 561 meter high Mäuseberg was erected in 1902 as a memorial to Dr. Adolf Dronke, who founded the Eifel Association in 1888. From this approximately 11 meter high observation tower, you have a wonderful panoramic view of the wide volcanic landscape of Eifel. Its viewing platform is exactly 166.5 meters above the Gemündener Maar.

If you walk a bit over the plateau, you have an impressive view of the Weinfelder Maar, which is also called Totenmaar, from the side opposite the Dronketurm.
