Raketenversuchsgelände Peenemünde

Impressive and terrifying history, but also beautiful nature in an area that has only been (partially) reopened to the public for a few years. The entire northern area up to Karlshagen was occupied first by the Nazis, then by the Russians and later by the NVA.
In some places, however, you still find yourself in front of closed barriers or gates, but you can still explore a lot by bike. There are educational and information boards almost everywhere!

Interesting museum for rocket and weapons research during National Socialism and World War II.

The research institutes of Peenemünde were the largest military research center in Europe from 1936 to 1945. Today, there is a lot to see in the (open-air) museum.
