Your adventure on the D-Route 5 begins in Saargemünd, just over the German-French border. You can easily reach the city with your well-packed bike by train and then roll the first few meters leisurely to the center - to the banks of the Saar.

The next stage of the D-Route 5 is waiting for you today with a good 60 flat kilometers. While you first let the Saar pass you from Keuchingen on the right, it gets wilder on the left. Along the rocky and green nature reserve Saar-Steilhange/Lutwinuswald you cycle through a sparsely populated area and… saber mais

From Schweich you first pedal on the right side of the Moselle in the morning. The river makes eight loops on the next stage before you arrive in Traben-Trarbach. In between there are always slight inclines waiting for you.



The 74-kilometer tour takes you from one wine village to another. Time-honored… saber mais

Hopefully you will leave the Moselle town of Traben-Trarbach the next day with a big smile, because the pearl on the Moselle guaranteed to have welcomed you with its incomparable charm the night before. But today you are drawn further north.



With a view of endless vineyards, you roll along the Moselle… saber mais

On the next stage you can once again enjoy the lush beauty of the Moselle with its vineyards and green cycle paths. From Cochem you drive north with the Moselle on your right and after a good 54 kilometers you arrive in Koblenz.



In the center you pass the Moselle-Rhine confluence and can then take a break… saber mais

After following the Saar and Moselle northwards for the first few days, the Rhine accompanies you on this tour across Rhineland-Palatinate to the east. After just 15 kilometers you will reach the beautiful Upper Middle Rhine Valley. The Rhine Valley, together with the unique Loreley rock, is protected… saber mais

Only minimal gradients and 65 kilometers await you on the next stage through the Rhine-Main area and the heart of the metropolis of Frankfurt am Main. A number of bridges, well-designed cycle paths, the Frankfurt bank of the Main and your stage destination, the fantastically beautiful, historic Hanau… saber mais

You slowly leave the metropolitan region of Rhein-Main behind you and pedal your way from Hanau-Steinheim to Wörth am Main - and with that you also arrive in Bavaria. From Steinheim, the blooming and lush green Main meadows give you a nice start to the next stage.



On the way are Seligenstadt and Aschaffenburg… saber mais

At 85 kilometers, this stage of D-Route 5 is the second longest of the long-distance cycle route. In contrast to the other stages, this tour takes you along the Main through the wooded heart of Bavaria. The green of the Odenwald accompanies you on the first kilometers.



From Wörth am Main you first cycle… saber mais

A paved bike path meanders along with the Main on the first few kilometers of the next stage between sections of forest and fields. Well rested, you first follow the cycle path to Lohr am Main, a picturesque town with a city beach, cozy inns and wine taverns.



After the small city visit it will be quieter… saber mais

On the next stage, the Main takes you out of Würzburg. Today's stage is a good 65 kilometers long. Up to Ochsenfurt it goes steadily south, but then the route makes a curve, like the Main, which again accompanies you throughout the stage today - including a ferry crossing



In addition to the historic Kitzingen… saber mais

From Volkach, the route first follows the Volkacher Mainschleife and the first kilometers you cycle blissfully between the river and vineyards. Only 350 meters of altitude are spread over this long stage of the long-distance cycle path and so you quickly leave the Würzburg catchment area behind you… saber mais

While the Main-Danube Canal continues south in the direction of Bamberg, the Main turns northeast past Hallstadt and takes you further and further to the German-Czech border. From Hallstadt you cycle through the lake area near Breitengüßbach and can take a bathing break at the start of the tour.

After the slightly longer stages of the previous days, the next stage of the D-Route 5 is shorter, but it is getting hillier now. At the edge of Kulmbach you swing well rested in the saddle in the morning and first roll leisurely through the local recreation area Oberauhof.

The next challenge of your bike tour is ahead of you: On the final stage, you will cross the Fichtelgebirge Nature Park over a distance of 58 kilometers. As the name suggests, you leave the bank cycle paths and river landscapes completely behind you and immerse yourself in the impressive forest area… saber mais
