Holstentor

Today, the Holsten Gate is THE landmark of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck. As the “middle” of what used to be four Holsten Gates – the others were demolished in the early or mid-19th century – it narrowly escaped the same fate. Instead, it was completely renovated and gradually acquired the importance it is today.
