Liège is actually quite beautiful, or at least it could be. Currently at least 50% is under construction: the Place de Marche is a sand pit. Unfortunately, everything else is also somewhat neglected. Lots of vacancies. A pity. The old buildings are actually beautiful.

Liege really is a charming city, despite the historical burden of an industrial city. Nice corners and bistros... Unfortunately, at the moment there is a big construction site. Everywhere is digging.

As a start, a small boat tour through Liège. Not spectacular, but o.k. Liège is actually an old industrial city, but it has received many modern buildings. The best example is the main train station designed by Spanish star architect Santiago Calatrava.

The Couven Museum is a museum of the city of Aachen. It shows bourgeois living culture from the 18th and early 19th centuries from Aachen and the surrounding area on three floors. The city has an attractive architecture. We like it. Princes are not ours, however.

We start in Flemalle, just outside Liege. The bike course follows the course of the Maas to the small town of Huy. In the beginning you still have a few industrial companies or former factories. We always start relaxed along the Maas through the upper Maas valley to beautiful Dinant. Here we visit the mighty very interesting citadel and the Leffe beer museum. Today we went deeper into the Ardennes. We followed the meandering course of the Lesse on an old railway line. Lunch break was in Rochefort. Passing Marche-en-Famenne, we come to the Ourthe valley a few kilometers before Durbuy. The enchanting town is located directly on the river bank.

Today we drive around Durbuy on small roads and paths through undulating hedgerows and meadows. This area doesn't just have picturesque villages to offer. Today we went back to Liège along the Ourthe river. A small section of the cycle path was very difficult to drive. Was more of a bumpy trail.
