It was only when it was rebuilt under the architect Georg Daniel between 1870 and 1873 that the Malchow town church reached its current location. Unstable soil conditions and the frequent destruction of its predecessor buildings by town fires (a major fire on the island in 1697) made it necessary to move it from the island, near today's town hall. The rectory is still there.
The financing of the new building was largely covered by donations. Pastor Ferdinand Stolzenburg (1840-1886) made a particularly valuable contribution to this, even winning over Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II as a sponsor and commemorating him with a portrait inside the church.
Today, in addition to the services of the Protestant parish, the town church also hosts a variety of exhibitions and concerts. inselstadt-malchow.de/verzeichnis/objekt.php?mandat=130337
