This small castle, like many others, was destroyed in the Palatinate Peasants' War. Only sparsely restored, it still offers a wonderful view over the southern Palatinate Forest and the adjacent Vosges. Below the ruins lies a beautiful castle fountain.

Very beautiful castle ruins. The facility can be visited with a wonderful view of the Palatinate Forest. Only small parts of the castle remain as it was used as a quarry after its destruction. Built on the hilltop crowned by a rocky reef, it originally covered an area of approximately 50 x 25 meters. Of the three towers of the upper castle on the rocky reef, only the keep is partially preserved. In addition, there are numerous beam and post holes in this area and the remains of a staircase carved into the rock, which once served as a connection to the lower castle. Parts of the surrounding wall, building foundations and a gate still exist.
Today the rock of the upper castle represents a platform that provides a view over the Upper Mundat Forest and the Rhine plain. (from: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burg_Guttenberg_(Pfalz)
