Moltke Memorial ParchimThe birthplace of Prussian Field Marshal Helmuth von Moltke presents an interesting collection of parchimers' military, scientific and literary achievements.The Prussian Field Marshal Helmuth von Moltke is one of the Mecklenburg Uradel and had in his capacity as Chief of the General Staff a significant share in the victories in the three wars of unification (German-Danish War in 1864, German War in 1866, German-French War 1870/71).In Langen Strasse 28 in Parchim is the birthplace of Helmuth von Moltke. On May 26, 1994, the opening of the Moltke memorial site took place in this house. This was set up by the Moltke Foundation Berlin in cooperation with the Parchimer Museum. The visitor gets an insight into the life and work of this personality, who was born on October 26, 1800 in Parchim and died on April 24, 1891 in Berlin. In showcases and on display boards Moltke's relationships with his birthplace, his military, scientific and literary achievements are presented.
