Location: Nordhorn, Landkreis Grafschaft Bentheim, Lower Saxony, Germany
.It was probably built at the beginning of the 14th century. It was first mentioned in 1578, when Count Arnold II of Bentheim sold the castle to the Frenswegen monastery. In 1628 the complex was still explicitly referred to as a "castle".
A chapel built in 1701 was demolished together with the former residential building in 1911 and replaced by a new church. In 1889 the moat was filled in. Stolen (in the links below) and more info:
