View of the Museum of Bavarian History

Bavaria is legendary, the Free State is a model of success, its cultural landscape is highly valued. There are museums in Bavaria on a wide variety of topics, but not on our recent history, especially the history of democracy. Our museum is the central repository of knowledge for this. The focus is on the people of Bavaria, all tribes and also those who have moved here from far away and found their home here. The common thread in our permanent exhibition is: How Bavaria became a Free State and what makes it so special.
Since June 5, 2019, the lion, the symbolic heraldic animal of all Bavarians, has been inviting visitors to visit the new cultural institution in the heart of the city of Regensburg. You will meet him in our 17-meter-high, light-flooded foyer, where he will personally welcome you.
