"The Martinus Church in Deutsch Evern is a very special church. The building was originally a farmhouse. In 1665, Hans Heitmanns and Anna Meyers built their new farmhouse as a two-story house on farm no. 1 in Deutsch Evern. The house has more than 300 years without a large There was damage on the spot, but in the 1980s the old building was in danger of finally falling into disrepair.
At the same time, the young church community, which was becoming independent, wanted to build its own church next to the vicarage and confirmation hall that had been inaugurated in November 1982. A church building association was founded for this purpose in 1985. So it came about that the church community bought the old house in 1987 and rebuilt it as a Martinus church about 300 m away on the Hengstberg, in the immediate vicinity of the vicarage. The initiator and source of ideas, together with the church council, was the pastor at the time, Christian Schnabel."
