The “Nordenhamer Ox” made of light granite stands in front of the Nordenham train station. It was made by a Chinese artist. It symbolizes Nordenham's first boom in the mid-19th century, when oxen were shipped to England via the "ox pier" at the train station. It was donated by the merchants' guild in 2008 to mark the 100th anniversary of the city of Nordenham (source: City of Nordenham - nordenham.de/de/kultur/gehenswuerdigkeiten/kunstwerke-in-nordenham).
