Through Parchim leads the traffic-controlled Elde-Müritz-Wasserstrasse. It is the connection from the Mecklenburg Lake District to the Elbe, over the Störkanal also to the Schweriner See. The difference in altitude from Plauer See to the Elbe is 49 m and is regulated by 17 locks. One of them is in the city of Parchim. The parchim lock is a lock of the Müritz-Elde waterway in Parchim. It is not served by a lockkeeper, but by the respective passers, d. H. she is a self-service lock.
The lock chamber has sheet pile walls into which the fenders of the ship can slip if they are too small. Therefore, you should use larger fenders or make sure that the ship does not come against the lock wall.
