Although the lighthouse is still fully functional, it is unfortunately not possible to view the inside of the lighthouse. However, you should still stop at the black and white lighthouse, because the view from outside is not to be despised either.
The lighthouse was built from 1853 to 1953 and has been a listed building since 1974.

In 1853, when Sylt was part of the Danish Kingdom, King Frederick VII of Denmark commissioned the construction of a lighthouse on the island's highest point, the Roter Kliff. The original name of this lighthouse was therefore Red Cliff. The name was changed to Kampen Lighthouse in 1975.
