Rhönpaulus and Ibengarten, two words that are closely related. Why? Rhönpaulus, the so-called Robin Hood the Rhön, hid here in the woods near Glattbach. Between the yew trees on Neuberg he lived in a cave for a while in the middle of the 18th century. Many of the yew trees were real tree veterans at the time - after all, the oldest specimens are over 800 years old.
The natural occurrence of yew on the western slope of the Neuberg was already designated in 1938 as the "Ibengarten Nature Reserve".
It is one of the oldest nature reserves in Thuringia.
