This hunting lodge was originally designed for the Kröller-Müller couple in 1914, who later used the place to entertain guests. The house is named after Saint Hubertus, the patron saint of hunting, and is designed to roughly resemble the antlers of a deer.

The Jachthuis Sint Hubertus, the former country residence of the Kröller-Müllers, is one of the most important buildings in the Netherlands.
The Hunting Lodge was designed by the famous architect Hendrikus Petrus Berlage (1856-1934). Berlage was already working for the Kröllers before he received this extensive assignment; the first assignment was to design an office building in London. Another was that of designing the Schipborg, a model farm in Anloo, Drenthe.
He probably received the assignment to design the Jachthuis, the object that would really connect the names Berlage and Kröller-Müller for good, in early 1915.
