Far from the only summit with the name, this Lord’s Seat is the highest point of a ridge in the beautiful Peak District National Park. The ridge is Rushup Edge and while it does have magnificent views, there’s no need to rush up the ascent, which takes you to an elevation of 1,804 feet (550 m). The top resides in the High Peak area, next to the Edale and Hope Valleys.

The Seat itself is an ancient tumuli, a burial chamber that takes on the appearance of a large, grassy mound. At the eastern edge of its ridge, you’ll find Mam Tor, one of the High Peak’s most-loved summits. There are plenty of footpaths and bridleways in the area, allowing you to add Lord’s Seat into an adventure of any length.

There’s a car park to the east between Lord’s Seat and Mam Tor, which allows you to ascend the ridge quickly and easily. You can go exploring here throughout the year, but don’t underestimate how quickly the weather can change in the national park. The hill is very exposed, so dress appropriately.
