Mühldorf looks back on over 1,000 years of history. The city used to be very important because of its river crossing - the Inn as a trade route once established its prosperity. A tour through the beautiful old town is worthwhile. The town square is particularly impressive - the longest in the Inn-Salzach region! Here you are guaranteed to find a café or restaurant that you like. In summer you can sit outside and study the special architectural style of the inner city construction.

The old town of Mühldorf with its colorful inn town houses and the raised facade walls is known far beyond the region. The houses to the left and right of the main street on the town square date from the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque periods. Notable buildings in the old town include the town hall with the eight-bladed mill wheel, the land surveying office, the lodron house, in which the district museum is housed, the former Gasthof Schwan, the Kornkasten, whose premises are used as a city library, and the Haberkasten, which is used as an event - and conference center is used.
