Concert Hall, Berlin
The Konzerthaus Berlin is a concert hall in Berlin, home of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. Located on the Gendarmenmarkt in the central Mitte district, it was originally built as a theatre. It was initially in operation from 1818 to 1821 under the name of Schauspielhaus Berlin, then as Theater am Gendarmenmarkt and Komödie. After the Second World War, it became a concert hall and its name was changed to its current one in 1994.
The Konzerthausorchester Berlin is the resident orchestra of the Konzerthaus Berlin. The concert hall also hosts Young Euro Classic, an international festival of youth orchestras, every summer.

Frederick the Great redesigned the Gendarmenmarkt in the 1770s. After the stables of the "Gens d’armes" regiment had been removed, Johann Boumann built the French Comedy House here until 1776. When this burned down in 1817, King Friedrich Wilhelm III. the order for a new building to Karl Friedrich Schinkel.
Today the Konzerthaus Berlin offers a wide range of programs, from symphony concerts to chamber music and music theater.
