The railway viaduct over which the trail leads is one of the first bridges in steel construction. The railway line connected from 1897 to 1951 Oberfrohna and desert fire. According to reports, the rails were demanded by the former Soviet Union as a reparation for war damage caused by Germany, which led to the termination of the railway line. The bridge miraculously stopped. In 1986, the viaduct was listed as a historical monument and then used as a hiking trail.
