The state hall of the Austrian National Library is one of the most beautiful historical library rooms in the world. The Habsburg Emperor Charles VI. had this jewel of profane baroque architecture built for his court library. The hall, which is more than 77 meters long, was built between 1723 and 1726 according to plans by the famous court architect Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach.
