What it’s about: Following the 2016 election of Donald Trump, an anxiety-ridden woman, her wife, and their son are tormented by a serial killer, mysterious clowns, and a blue-haired candidate for local government.
Good if you liked: “It,” “V for Vendetta,” and/or Twitter in 2016.
Best casting decision: It’s regrettable that Alison Pill joined American Horror Story during its worst season — and then never came back. But as far as believable onscreen partners for Sarah Paulson go, the always spot-on actress is leagues ahead of John Mulaney in “The Bear.”
Campiest moment: It’s technically another casting choice, but forcing Evan Peters to play a whopping six historic cult leaders (Charles Manson! Jim Jones! Marshall Applewhite! David Koresh! Andy Warhol! Jesus Christ! No, seriously!) wasn’t so much a good casting decision as it was ironically and hilariously obsessive. —AF
