The Lost Daughter (2021)
Tedious movie about a narcissist with no interest in changing
I love Olivia Coleman, which was why when I saw that she had a new film coming out I knew that I had to watch it. The trailer was enticing and left me eager to watch. However upon watching the movie I found it to be a complete waste of time. It was beautifully directed and the cinematography was beautiful, however the main character (Leda) is painfully unlikeable. To the point that I hated everything she did down to the way she slept. Olivia Coleman outdid herself as per usual. The acting in the film itself is quite good, but the story itself in convoluted and anticlimactic. I kept on waiting for something big to happen or just a climax of any sort, but the film remained stagnant. It felt as though I had wasted 2 hours of my life after watching it. The only reason I'm rating it this high is due to the acting, directing, and cinematography. It makes me sad how much I disliked it.
Grand Army (2020)
Don't understand the hate
I really don't understand the low rating of this show, all the hate comes from closed minded people who hate change and representation. This is a great show with a diverse cast and a great story. It's one of the most authentic portayals of modern high school life I've seen in the media without the kids being overly sexualized or drugged up. It's raw and real and the acting is phenomenal. The "woke" moments don't seemed forced or like they were written by old white men. highly recommend the show!!
Hollywood (2020)
Hollywood is a must see!
I had been impatiently anticipating the premiere of this show for quite sometime and was fearful of how it would land. Shows like this either do tremendously well or they crash and burn, and I am happy to say the Hollywood did not disappoint! Ryan Murphy did a wonderful job crafting this show and creating loving and memorable characters that you constantly root for. As a black women it was so refreshing to see a black woman as a star of a movie (meg) that did not revolve around race, but about the journey of a character. It kept me on the edge of my seat and it was a joy to watch though unrealistic it was an uplifting and inspiring watch. Especially considering the world we live in today, I would highly recommend that you binge this amazing series!
Outer Banks (2020)
Good for what it is
I was hesitant about it at first but after getting the first episode out of the way I was fairly captivated. It has a pretty decent and compelling storyline, though it gets a bit convoluted at times but the acting is pretty good and it's good for what it is. Entertaining and something interesting to watch while in quarantine though slightly irritating at times. Worth the watch
Hollywood: A Hollywood Ending (2020)
I was in tears
Fantastic episode, it was truly inspiring and had me in tears the whole way through, a great way to end a great series!
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
Amazing
I love horror movies that make me think but also contain the jumps scares we horror junkies love, and the haunting of hill house is s perfect combination of the two. Between the excellent writing and storyline to the phenomenal acting, this show is a must see. It has quickly become one of my favorite television programs and I consider myself quite a snob when it comes to tv. I can't wait to see what season 2 has in store for us!
Riverdale (2017)
Garbage
I usually don't write reviews but I feel like I cannot let more people waste their time watching the show. The writing is complete garbage and sounds like it was written by a middle school girl. The show somehow gets more convoluted every episode and the dialogue is complete trash. The show is a complete waste of talented actors and should be cancelled as soon as possible.
