Madhav (2022)
Disappointing Execution Despite a Promising Concept
One of the most disappointing aspects of the film is its inability to capitalize on its potential.
The premise of a cunning strategy to expose a corrupt advocate had the makings of a thrilling narrative, but the lack of coherence in execution undermines this potential.
The film could have explored deeper themes of justice, morality, and the complexities of law enforcement.
Despite the initial intrigue surrounding the plot-a high-profile advocate notorious for his malpractices and a police officer's cunning strategy to expose him-the execution lacks finesse and polish, ultimately diminishing the film's impact.
One of the most glaring issues with the film is the overacting that pervades it. The main character, played by Hitu Kanodia, is particularly guilty of this. His performance, while energetic, is overly exaggerated to the point of becoming a caricature.
Attempting to channel the charisma of Rajnikanth, the antics come off as forced and unconvincing.
This overacting distracts from the seriousness of the storyline and makes it difficult for the audience to take the character seriously.
Saloni Shah, unfortunately, fails to impress as well.
Vishal Shah's performance also leaves much to be desired. His acting comes across as unpolished, and it is evident that he needs further training to hone his craft.
The supporting cast, while occasionally competent, often falls into the trap of overacting, which detracts from the film's overall quality.
Production design is another significant downfall of the film. The sets, particularly the police station, look artificial and unconvincing.
Hetal Thakkar's direction, though earnest, fails to bring the story to life in a compelling manner.
Key scenes that should evoke strong emotions or tension fall flat due to lackluster execution.
This disappointing direction significantly hampers the film's potential.
While the film may have moments of intrigue, it ultimately falls short of its potential, leaving viewers disappointed.
For those looking for a polished and compelling narrative, this may not be the best choice.
Anokhee (2023)
A disappointing take on a promising premise
It would have greatly benefited the entire crew to attend a refresher course in their respective fields, including acting, screenplay, editing, continuity, dialogues, production design, and, most importantly, direction.
The actress and the director could have gained from observing a few wheelchair-bound individuals to learn their body language and develop a deeper empathy for their experiences.
What could have been an inspiring and heartfelt narrative about overcoming adversity and embracing self-love turns into a disappointing cinematic experience that lacks depth and engagement.
While the premise is promising and offers potential for a deeply moving narrative, the execution is lackluster.
The screenplay is plagued with inconsistencies and lacks the emotional depth needed to engage the audience.
The story progression feels disjointed, making it difficult for viewers to connect with the protagonist's journey.
The performances are largely unconvincing.
The lead actress, while earnest, struggles to convey the complex emotions required for her role.
Her portrayal of the protagonist feels superficial and does not evoke the empathy that the character's struggles and triumphs deserve.
The supporting cast, too, fails to leave a significant impact, with performances that range from mediocre to unremarkable.
In fact, most of the time you feel irritated.
Rakesh Shah's direction lacks the finesse and sensitivity needed for a film with such a delicate subject matter.
The overall storytelling is uninspired, failing to capture the emotional highs and lows of the protagonist's journey.
While the film attempts to tackle important themes such as disability, self-acceptance, and resilience, it does so in a manner that feels superficial and heavy-handed.
Instead of offering a nuanced and inspiring portrayal of the protagonist's journey, the film comes across as amatuerish attempt.
Ekda Yeun Tar Bagha (2023)
A Disappointing Mishmash of Silly Humor and Poor Execution
"Ekda Yeun Tar Bagha" promises a humorous ride, but sadly, it delivers little more than a headache-inducing experience.
The film's lack of a cohesive story is glaring, leaving audiences grasping for substance amidst a sea of silliness. From concept to direction, it's clear that the film falls short on multiple fronts.
One of the most surprising aspects is the involvement of seasoned actor Girish Kulkarni.
Despite his talent, his performance is unable to salvage the wreckage of this messy production.
The rest of the cast, including the director primarily comprised of small-time TV serial actors, fails to impress, further exacerbating the film's woes.
A notable flaw is the blatant and excessive product placement, which detracts from any semblance of artistic integrity the film might have hoped to maintain.
It's a shame to see such a lack of finesse in a project that clearly had potential.
Even attempting to watch the film on fast forward mode proved to be a test of endurance, highlighting the film's inability to engage viewers on any level. It's a prime example of how a promising premise can be derailed by poor execution.
This film is a shoddy attempt at comedy that misses the mark entirely. With its weak storyline, amateurish direction, and lackluster performances, it's a film best avoided by discerning audiences.
Raakh (2023)
Gift of Life: The Power of Organ Donation
I watched the short film on the importance of organ donation and found it to be a compelling and emotionally charged piece.
The film effectively uses a bit of suspense to create interest and keep the viewers engaged throughout. The acting and cinematography were well-done and added to the overall impact of the film.
The film tackles a socially relevant issue in a poignant and thought-provoking manner. It highlights the importance of organ donation and how it can make a significant difference in the lives of people who are in dire need of organ transplants. The film does an excellent job of shedding light on the issue and raising awareness about the critical shortage of organ donors.
The film's message is clear and impactful, and it encourages viewers to consider becoming organ donors.
It underscores the idea that organ donation is a noble and selfless act that can save lives and make a real difference in the world. The film also emphasizes that anyone can be an organ donor, regardless of age, race, or medical history.
I found the short film to be a moving and thought-provoking piece that effectively highlights the importance of organ donation. It does an excellent job of raising awareness about the critical need for organ donors and encouraging viewers to consider becoming donors themselves.
I highly recommend this film to anyone who is interested in learning more about organ donation or who is considering becoming a donor.
Nazar Andaaz (2022)
Sensitivity and Emotional Depth: A Thought-Provoking Film with Exceptional Acting Performances
I found this film to be a brilliant film that left a lasting impression on me.
The story was superb, and the screenplay and direction were top-notch.
I was particularly impressed by the performances of all three lead actors, who brought a sense of authenticity and depth to their characters.
Kumud Mishra's portrayal of a visually challenged person was especially noteworthy.
Abhishek and Divya's performances were also splendid.
They both played their parts with sincerity and conviction, and their chemistry with Kumud Mishra added a level of warmth and authenticity to the film.
Rajeshwari Sachdev's character also played an important role, albeit a small one. She portrayed it sensitively, and her performance added an extra layer of emotional depth to the film.
The entire episode when the trio visit Mandvi was quite touching and moving. It was beautifully crafted and executed, and I found myself getting wet-eyed at several points during that scene.
"Nazar Andaz" is a well-crafted film that kept me engaged from start to finish.
The exploration of complex themes was thoughtful and impactful, and the direction and pacing of the film were expertly handled.
I highly recommend this movie to anyone looking for a moving and thought-provoking cinematic experience.
Nayika Devi: The Warrior Queen (2022)
Poor Execution of a Remarkable Story
The direction as well as the editing is choppy, and the acting is lackluster, failing to bring the characters to life.
Moreover, the fight scenes are poorly choreographed, with actors killing their opponents with clean swords and no bloodstains, a glaring inconsistency that detracts from the realism of the story.
The portrayal of Muhammad Ghori is also problematic. The character is unnecessarily made to look repulsive, and the actor's performance lacks nuance, further undermining the authenticity of the film.
Additionally, there are several lapses in continuity that further highlight the inadequacies of the filmmaking. For instance, when the king is beheaded, the queen cradles him in her lap, but when she rises, there are no bloodstains on her clothes or hands. And many more such scenes.
The lighting in some scenes is also inconsistent, appearing brighter than the flames from torches.
Well, this has some noteworthy historical elements but falls short in execution.
The technical flaws and inconsistencies detract from the viewing experience, making it difficult to fully immerse oneself in the story.
Demolition (2015)
The Journey to Rebuild: Demolition and Healing
Demolition is a powerful and thought-provoking film that delves into the complex emotions and challenges that arise from tragic loss.
The film follows the journey of a successful investment banker named Davis, played brilliantly by Jake Gyllenhaal, who is struggling to cope with the sudden loss of his wife in a car crash.
Davis' grief manifests in unusual ways, leading him to disassemble and destroy the life he once knew, including his job, his possessions, and even his marriage.
Through his interactions with a customer service representative, Karen, played by Naomi Watts, and her young son, Davis begins to find a sense of purpose and healing in the chaos of his life.
What sets Demolition apart is its nuanced portrayal of grief and the healing process.
Director Jean-Marc Vallée expertly weaves together humor and heartbreak, creating a film that is both emotionally raw and uplifting.
Gyllenhaal gives a standout performance, perfectly capturing the complex emotions and inner turmoil of his character.
The film's conclusion is especially satisfying, offering a sense of closure and hope without resorting to easy answers or clichés.
This film is a poignant and deeply affecting film that is sure to resonate with anyone who has experienced loss or struggled to find their place in the world.
Slow but highly recommended.
The Secret: Dare to Dream (2020)
Miracles in the Mundane
This film is heartwarming and inspiring that delivers a powerful message about hope, positivity, and gratitude.
Katie Holmes is a struggling widow.
She delivers a fantastic performance as Miranda, portraying her character's struggles and emotions with authenticity and heart.
Josh Lucas as a mysterious man who enters her life, the film explores how positive thoughts and attitudes can transform our lives.
He truly shines as Bray, bringing an enigmatic and mysterious quality to the character.
The chemistry between the two leads adds a layer of depth to the film.
While the plot may be predictable at times, the movie's themes are timeless and resonate with viewers of all ages. "The Secret: Dare to Dream" is a heartwarming and uplifting film that delivers a powerful message about the power of positive thinking and how it can impact our lives in a significant way.
This film is a must-watch for anyone looking for a dose of inspiration and positivity.
The movie's message is delivered in a captivating way, and it will leave you feeling uplifted and motivated long after the credits roll.
Rana Naidu (2023)
Promising Plot Hindered by Poor Dialogue Writing
Rana Naidu is a recent web series that has been making waves in the entertainment industry. The series revolves around the life of a family and their struggles to maintain their power and status in society.
While the series has an intriguing plot, it falls short in execution. The family drama element could have been emphasized more to bring out the emotions of the characters. However, the series has an impressive cast with Rana Daggubati and Surveen Chawla delivering commendable performances. Venkatesh also does a decent job in his role.
Sushant Singh and Abhishek Banerjee are standout performers who elevate the series with their acting skills. The series also features a few talented TV actors who have been roped in for supporting roles. Ow did a senior actor like Ashish Vidyarthi fall into this and lower his standards?
Despite having a promising storyline and a talented cast, the series suffers due to poor dialogue writing. The crude and vulgar language used in certain scenes is inappropriate and distracts from the overall viewing experience. In the garb of freedom, is it necessary to go to this extent? What are we trying to portray to the young generation?
In conclusion, while Rana Naidu has its moments, it falls short in execution and dialogue writing. It is worth a watch if you don't mind such crime and crassness but it may not be everyone's cup of tea.
Iratta (2023)
Double the Drama, Double the Thrill: Iratta Shines with Its Unique Storyline
"Iratta" is a gripping and intense film that tells the story of identical twins Vinod and Pramod, brilliantly portrayed by Joju George.
The film masterfully blends elements of drama and thriller, resulting in a captivating cinematic experience.
One of the most striking aspects of the film is its treatment. The director has taken great care in crafting a visually stunning film, with beautiful shots and a color palette that perfectly complements the mood of each scene.
Additionally, the pacing of the film is spot on, with just the right amount of tension and suspense to keep the audience engaged throughout.
The acting in "Iratta" is truly outstanding. Joju George, Anjali and Arya Salim and the rest of the team is splendid. Their performances are nuanced and emotional, with moments of tenderness, humor, and intensity that bring the characters to life on the screen.
Joju brings a sense of authenticity to his roles, with each character possessing a distinct personality and mannerism.
Overall, "Iratta" is a must-see and well-crafted film for fans of drama and thriller genres and of course of Joju George. With its top-notch treatment, excellent acting, and engrossing storyline, it is a film that will leave a lasting impression on audiences.
Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai (2017)
A Waste of Time: Fails to Deliver on Its Promising Story
Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hain left me disappointed due to poor direction and weak acting.
While the story had potential, the execution from the cast and crew fell short.
The actors struggled to breathe life into their characters, making it difficult for viewers to connect with them.
Additionally, the dialogue felt forced and unnatural, failing to convey the emotions of the scenes effectively.
The Screenplay failed miserably. Editing department needs to be polished. Production design too wasn't so great shakes.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this film. It felt like a waste of time and failed to deliver a satisfying viewing experience.
Cirkus (2022)
Avoid avoid avoid and retain your sensibilities.
Cirkus, the latest film from Rohit Shetty, starring Ranveer Singh, is a total disappointment.
The overconfidence in sticking to the same formula that worked before has resulted in a well-deserved flop.
The movie tries to be an army of characters put together with the purpose to make us laugh, but it falls far short of that. All the characters, colours, and chaos cannot make up for the lack of comedy. The film is a remake of the classic cult comedy Angoor (1982) movie starring Sanjeev Kumar, but this version is a terrible one.
In the film, Ranveer Singh plays a double role, which is the worst part, and the best part is at the end. Pooja Hegde and Jacqueline Fernandez are wasted in the film, and so are several veteran actors. They try to take the film to a new height but fall short due to the weak script.
The movie is very dull and nonsensical, with overacting from Ranveer Singh.
The special effects are laughably bad, and the dialogue is cheesy and cliché. This film was one of the worst I have ever seen. The plot was ridiculous, and the acting was wooden.
Avoid avoid avoid and retain your sensibilities.
Urvarit (2023)
Empowering Portrayal of a Strong and Independent Woman
Urvarit is a thought-provoking film that challenges societal norms and expectations of women in their 70s.
The film follows the journey of Sharada, a Maharashtrian woman who has recently lost her husband after a long battle with an illness.
What sets this film apart is its depiction of Sharada as a strong and independent woman who has made peace with her loss in her own way. This is in stark contrast to the stereotypical portrayal of older women in India, who are often depicted as negative and unhappy after the loss of a partner.
The acting by the lead actress is top-notch and the film is visually stunning, capturing the essence of rural Maharashtra in all its beauty. The film also does a great job of weaving in cultural and historical references, adding depth to the story.
It's a film that will leave you with a new appreciation for the strength and resilience of women, and the importance of embracing one's individuality, regardless of age.
Vadh (2022)
Sanjay Mishra Elevates a Predictable Thriller
Vadh is a film that tackles the issue of intolerance through the lens of a murder.
Although the script is solid, the slow and predictable pacing of the film detracts from the viewing experience.
The film's saving grace is the performances of Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta, who bring depth and nuance to their roles.
Saurabh Sachdeva also shines as the film's villain.
Manav Vij's role is small but he does add a punch.
Technically, the film is average and could have benefited from better editing and set design.
Despite its flaws, Vadh is worth watching for Sanjay Mishra's standout performance.
A Wednesday (2008)
Excellent and sleekly executed
It is a gripping and thought-provoking crime thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
The film tells the story of a retired police commissioner who recounts his encounter with a mysterious kidnapper who plans to execute a series of bombings in Mumbai.
The film deals with a number of social and political issues, such as corruption and terrorism. The screenplay is well written, and the acting by Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher is top-notch.
The film's pacing is perfect, keeping you engaged throughout, and the climax is both satisfying and heartbreaking. It leaves you thinking about the issues it raises long after the credits roll.
Overall, "A Wednesday" is a must-watch for anyone who appreciates a well-made, intelligent film.
HIT: The First Case (2022)
Crime thriller
It is a thrilling crime drama film.
The story revolves around a detective who is tasked with solving a string of murders.
The plot is well-crafted, with a few twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end.
The acting is good, with the lead actor delivering a powerful performance as the determined & vulnerable detective. Rajkumar Rao always seems to deliver a good job.
Overall, "Hit: The First Case" is a one-time-see film for fans of crime dramas and thrillers and of course, Rajkumar.
Though not very great shakes, it is a decently-crafted and well-acted film that will keep you guessing until the end.
Mission Majnu (2023)
Slightly disappointing
This is a story of India's most audacious and daring covert operation in the heart of Pakistan.
While the storyline is intriguing, the execution leaves something to be desired. The film fails to rise beyond the caricature of the age-old India-Pakistan hatred and war, and could have been more thrilling and gripping.
The pacing is slow, and the film struggles to maintain the audience's interest. The performances are underwhelming and fail to convey the intensity and urgency of the situation.
The direction is lacklustre, and the film fails to build the necessary tension and suspense to make it a truly thrilling experience.
The film has a good premise but could have been executed in a better way.
It fails to live up to its potential and could have been made more thrilling and gripping.
The film is a missed opportunity to explore a little-known piece of history and the audience may find themselves disappointed by the lack of depth and intensity in the film.
Doctor G (2022)
Nice pleasant film to watch once.
It is a light-hearted comedy that brings some much-needed levity to the medical genre.
The film follows the story of Uday Gupta, a man who finds himself as the lone male resident in the Gynaecology department.
His initial reluctance leads to comedic mishaps and misunderstandings, but as he becomes more comfortable in his new surroundings, he forms great camaraderie with his fellow classmates.
The acting is decent, with the lead actor effectively portraying the character's growth and evolution.
Shefali Shah is poised with not much to do. Sheeba Chhada is excellent, as always.
The comedic timing is well executed, making the audience laugh at the right moments. The film's direction is clever, making good use of the setting and characters to create a fun and enjoyable viewing experience.
Overall, I give a 6 out of 10 rating.
It is a light-hearted comedy that will make you laugh and also bring some warmth in your heart.
It is a perfect movie for a weekend watch with family and friends.
Dhokha: Round D Corner (2022)
Dhokha gives you dhokha...
A poorly made film that fails to deliver on all fronts. The acting is subpar, with the actors delivering wooden performances and struggling to bring any depth to their characters.
I am surprised how Maddy agreed to do this film.
Darshan Kumaar has overacted all throughout.
Screenplay is no good. The story itself is muddled and confusing, leaving the audience disinterested and disengaged.
The dialogues are clunky and unrealistic, adding to the overall lack of believability in the film.
The direction is amateurish, lacking the nuance and skill necessary to create a compelling viewing experience.
Overall, this is a film that fails to live up to its potential and is not worth the time to watch.
Dagdi Chawl 2 (2022)
Not worth a minite
Terrible, atrocious, rotten would be an understatement. Amateurish. Awful. Appalling. Detestable.
The actors (leading as well as supporting), director, screenwriter, dialogue writer, editor, continuity... almost all departments need to attend a refresher course.
Sheer waste of time. Disappointing. Lacks any depth, is not at all exciting, not much of a story...
They even goofed up the simple comedy & fight scenes.
After some time, it becomes a drag. I actually fast-forwarded to finish it.
Please save your precious time and patience and read a book or even nap. It will do you good. Actually.
Phew!!!
Shamshera (2022)
Caw caw and scream scream
Good story but badly executed.
And of course, terrible acting.
Most departments can enrol for a master class in their craft. The Director can take the lead. Phew!
The lead actress can spend some time in taking acting classes rather than exposing and screaming.
Iravati did a good job. Ranbir too in most parts.
Rest of them wasted their talents.
Go read a book or take a nap rather than watching this torture.
Jug Jugg Jeeyo (2022)
Let's play divorce divorce
Surprisingly quite a bad film.
Neetu Madam is quite graceful and did a good job but not sure why she would have taken up this role.
And Manish Paul too is a saving grace.
Well, for the rest of the cast... there isn't much to say.
Disappointment.
After some time, it becomes a drag. I actually fast-forwarded to finish it.
Best is to avoid this film and jeeyo aaramse.
D-Tox (2002)
Disappointing for a Stallone movie
This film is probably one the worst I have seen of Stallone.
Sheer waste of time. Quite predictable. Disappointing. Lacks any depth, not exciting, not much of a story...
Better to avoid this one. Save your time.
Lochya Zaala Re (2022)
Terribly 3rd rate
What was this? From no angle is this a comedy film. At best it is one the worst slapstick.
Terrible story, terrible editing, terrible dialogues, terrible production designing, terrible direction, and of course terrible acting.
Sheer waste of time. Major disappointment.
Phew!
Run Hide Fight (2020)
Amateurish Die Hard... Alas!!!
I guess the makers must have started our with a good intention and probably a good story too but alas they must have got carried away. The final product is childish, not worth spending your time for this.
