The Batman (2022)
Long and drawn out... editing could have saved the film
First the good... great cinematography and sound design.
Terrible screenplay and editing. The movie could have been 1 hour shorter and probably been much more entertaining. It wasn't even a slow burn... it was a snails pace that didn't flow well.
Pattinson although a good actor didn't fit the Bruce Wayne character well... too brooding and emo. Bruce Wayne, although damaged and flawed when in private, doesn't show this side of himself in public.
21 Jump Street (2012)
Mah name Jeff
One of my fav comedies!! Original content and so much of the humor is in the editing. Tatum ans Hill are the perfect duo and almost every scene makes me laugh out loud.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Entertaining
A good movie with laughs, good action. Not much character development but it had style.
Stranger Things (2016)
Season 3 is my fav
Each season has its own mood.. I love the first season for its innovative story, but the third season is pure nostalgic fun and by far my fav.
The Lion King (2019)
Amazing CGI but no substance...
Here's what makes this movie sub par and why it doesn't come close to the original:
Real animals have no facial expression... they don't emote or look like human faces; yet the the original cartoon characters were animated with human-like facial expressions, which made them relatable. Unfortunately the animators of the new film didn't take this into consideration and it was doomed from the start.
The original cartoon's voice actors were mostly all Broadway actors (Jeremy irons, Matthew Broderick, Etc...) and knew how to slightly overact which, in The case of voicing animals, worked out amazingly well. The live action actors voices were lifeless and when combined with animals with no expression gave a lackluster performance.
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
Soooo muuuuuch slooooow mooooootioooon!
Zack Snyder sure loves slow motion shots. Pretty sure I was able to make a sandwich and come back and the same slowmo scene was playing. I felt like the Flash.
Overall a good movie though and definitely true to Zack Snyder's style. Reminded me a lot of Watchmen which is also a great movie.
Some CG elements were pretty bad, but others looked amazing... not really sure how that happened. I never saw the 2017 version, so maybe Zack Snyder filmed some extra scenes.
Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
It's up there with the Matrix as my fav scifi movie
I've seen this move at least 7 times and every time I do, I'm amazed at the story, production, special effects, and script.
There are awesome quotes in this movie that get reused in the best way that I didn't catch until the second or third viewing.
Plus there's Bill Paxton!
The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two (2020)
What the heck happened?
This movie is pretty lame... no believable writing or characters. The actor who plays Belsnickel plays literally the EXACT same role he did in a Deadpool 2: a jealous and spiteful New Zealander who tries to get revenge on the person he once loved.
The first movie had character development... in this sequel, they're just lifeless actors spouting off lines.
The Peanut Butter Falcon (2019)
Great feel good story!
Amazing cast and original story! Shia really shows his range in this film. He continues to impress as he matures.
