Beacon 23 (2023)
Mundane
As a fan of sci-fi TV shows and movies, I would like to start off by saying this show began with a lot of potential good. CGI solid acting. That being said, the storyline goes all over the place a bit hard to follow. Towards the end of season 1, it left me thinking is this about aliens about artificial intelligence or about the protagonist actors? Again, the storyline was all over the place. I made it halfway through season 2 and gave up on it as the episodes were too much dialogue. Not enough action scenes. The two min actors in the show are solid actors but it wasn't enough to save this mediocre show.
War of the Worlds (2019)
Mediocre
Aliens versus humans will not save the mediocracy that is war of the worlds by far a mundane adaptation of the book. Gabriel Byrne it's the only reason I'm giving it an extra star. He is brilliant in this show. A slow paced storyline followed by the aliens who are not even aliens only evolved humans with robotic cyborg sentinelsbas their servants or whatever fails to really take off. That being said the effects and gory scenes are well executed but falls short in plot delivery expected by the book and movie. The first season was good but the awe factor on what and who they aliens are is never present. "Invasion" on apple TV if you want to binge a good alien TV show.
The Good Wife (2009)
Good show
I'm no lawyer or a democrat but looking past that this show rocks. It takes elements from real life event scandals and presents it in tv drama format. It features a solid slew of actors making the show much more intriguing. With a cliff hanger at almost every end of the episode it keeps you binge watching for hours on end.
Ultimately, the main protagonists of the show excel and acting is top notch (not to mention Alan Cummings character). It is an easy show to watch I didn't come across a single bad episode unlike Supernatural (the Scooby Doo episode). The writing is executed in a way that is simple to comprehend even if you don't practice law.
Knightfall (2017)
Truly worth watching!!
Wow where do I begin, nightfall grabs you right at the first episode add doesn't let go all throughout the season. Cliffhanging you at every end of each episode. Very well written story line and execution by producer Jeremy Renner and company. Epic battle scenes equal to if not more so than Vikings on history channel.
The additional casting in season 2 brings forth Hammil, who is just turns everything he touches to gold. Furthermore, the cast is solid to each owns dialogue and beautifully builds up the story up until the end. It is a shame they canceled it but it eneded prolifically as it should have. I felt i was watching a movie. Great show. 👍
Cut Bank (2014)
👍
Good solid movie keeps you plugged until the end. Malkovich as good as ever with Liam on the support. I like movies that film in small towns makes for a great storyline and beautiful scenery. Falls short on delivery tho the ending wasn't all that great not to mention unrealistic on some events that unfold at the end. Furthermore, the plot is well written, intriguing characters and doesn't hold back with the murdering effects are fantastic. The ending is the only issue i have with this film. It kinda leaves you feeling empty on the sense that the unrealistic event would never ever happen in reality. Other than that pretty decent movie.
Archive (2020)
Decent sci fi flick
I'm into these future set robot flicks not to mention Theo James a solid actor. That being said archive is a solid flick with the plot twist at the end. Only thing is the plot twist has been done before the movie really tries hard to keep you guessing to the end but fall short on the delivery. However, doont expect too much action as its more of a drama storyline and dialog. Also, The main robot in this movie is poorly costumed. It almost looks like a person with paint on instead of cgi they couldve have done better with that also. Its a tad too long of a movie it could have been shorter nevertheless it is an entertaining flick for fans of Theo and sci fi lovers.
I Am the Night (2019)
Eh.
I wanted so much to like this show Chris Pine is a fine actor however, the role and story of this show was all over the place it was only up to the last few episodes where everything pieced together other than that it's really tough to follow. Acting was mediocre some exaggerated lines followed by mundane dialogs made this show hard to get through. That being said the setting of this show was the best part with some beautiful shots of old time America and how life was like back in those times were pretty cool but still not enough to save this show from mediocrity. Ultimately, the show drags a bit too much just to get to the plot i had high expectations for this miniseries due to the high calibur Black dahlia murders that took place in that era.
Absentia (2017)
Entertaining
Its a good show, decent storyline that being said u have to try and engage this show as far from reality a bit. To all the negative reviews its just a show people far from perfect like most tv shows but the drama and how the protagonist turns out to be badass towards the end of the 3rd season makes it as entertaining as tv gets. All in all the story gets a bit radical with the way it intertwines from the first case to the next but it finishes strong and wraps up nicely. Sure the writing is no Alfred Hitchcock however the action scenes and acting is solid letting you look past some of the ridiculous situations.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013)
Wow
Ben stiller is class and so is this production. What can I say an all around enjoyable flick! Do yourself a favor a watch this movie you won't be disappointed.
Stranded (2013)
Why all the hate?
I enjoyed this sci fi horror movie made in the heart of Aliens, good acting and solid plot made it an enjoyable film. Great open ending hope they make a sequel. Give it a look it's free to watch on prime.
Reprisal (2018)
Disregard low reviews
Not sure what all the hate is about but Willis plays a retired cop. It kinda felt like a continuation of the the hard franchise. He lends his police background to aid Grillo in catching a murderous madman. Good action and solid acting. But don't take my word for it just watch it and you'll see.
Monos (2019)
Good story about kids of war.
A bit slow at times and confusing as to where the plot is headed but overall it's mix between Lord of the flies meets red dawn. Sort of a solid 7 as far as characters, storyline and production.
Doom: Annihilation (2019)
Better than the first.
True to the game in every way fans of the game series will enjoy this movie. Effects are on point and better than the first doom which was trash in comparison. Fingers crossed for a sequal.
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
Get'em Cap!
I saw this in theaters and remember being disappointed after all the hype surrounding the release. However after watching Endgame and all the marvel movies in chronological order it made more sense the second time around and as a result I can now rate this title accordingly. It could've used a tad more action scenes but overall it was well acted good cgi and a great intro into the marvel universe we have all come to love. Looking forward to the next Captain America.
The Trap (2019)
Another silly but watchable film.
People who enjoyed movies like How High or half baked, will also like this movie. It has some Funny dialogue by yours truly Mike Epps. Dont ecpect much but if your looking for a movie such as the ones mentioned then give it a shot.
