The Mummy (2017)
It's the start of a wide universe to tap into.
This new version of the mummy is exactly that.... New! It's a completely new story line with some aspects thrown in to reference the previous versions.
It has been extremely well written in terms of it's potential. You have to think about what will come next and look out for the little clues throughout. It makes you think about the future possibilities of this franchise.
In regards to the film it self. Well it definitely has moments of suspense and a good degree of comical moments. The actors involved show great commitment to the franchise and I can only imagine what is to come.
All in all it's a great start and with the list of monsters the film can tap into I am definitely looking forward to the next installments. Just a warning though when watching this universe try not to compare it to the Marvel comic universe because this is something far different to that.
The Crown (2016)
Acting at its finest
Where to start is very difficult when it comes to what I can only describe as an amazing feat of production and acting. The cast are absolutely outstanding and are nothing but professional.
You can tell a lot of effort has been put into the research and accuracy of the story line. The attention to detail also has to be credited.
I can't find a fault and believe me I've tried. Having watched previous biopics/Dramas regarding royalty I will have to put this at the Top and that is including The Queen which again I would rate at 10/10.
In summery a must watch if you are looking for a great piece of production and a stimulating story line. I would recommend this to anyone.
Independents' Day (2016)
Why did I watch this?
Before I start I would like to add that I enjoy a low budget film just as much as the big ones, sometimes I find them even better. This film however will go down as the worst I have ever seen....
This film is a what not to do when making a film. The acting at best looks as though they got random people from the street while the story is just a rip off of independence day. The effects are just laughable.
Id stay clear of this film unless you want to look at it and feel embarrassed you wasted your time on this utter rubbish.
The one thing I don't understand is how the critics have rated this as OK.
Goodnight, Mister Tom (1998)
a TV film in line with the greats of cinema
this TV film is one of those that makes you think why was it not in the cinema or why hasn't this been nominated for the big awards so many look for in a film today. Every Christmas i watch this as it is shown every year without fail and even though i have seen this film about a dozen times it never fails to grip me and make me laugh cry and smile. For those who have not seen this please do take the time to watch something that is greatly written and has amazing actors and actresses that have not had the credit that they deserve as i admire their work greatly. I promise you that you will watch this TV and think why was this not released in the cinema or why has it never received an academy award. the answer is obvious its because its not a big budget block buster. its something even special.
Alpha Dog (2006)
Gripping, emotional and a great directing style
This is my top film of all time. I won't spoil anything for you just take it from me that its worth a watch. The story is the main selling point. Its extremely well directed and most of the actors are brilliant (a few are a bit cringe worthy).
I give credit where credits due this story builds up right from the start and just keeps you gripped. Its right at the end where you get a bang and you really start to appreciate all the effort put into this very emotional film.
Its my top film based solely on the story line and directing style and those perfect moments of great acting.
