The Batman (2022)
Surpassed Expectations
There are reviews giving this movie a 2/10... what do you give Mel Gibson/Nicholas Cage movies?
I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. It's definitely too long - I think it could have easily gotten away with 2-2.5hrs at the most.
I didn't like the idea of Robert Pattinson as Batman before the movie and I still don't after watching it. It's not that he's bad... it's just that he's not good! Christian Bale/Michael Keaton are still the best for me.
However, the directing, acting, cinematography, and score are all good.
Invasion (2021)
An Invasion on your time
The long drawn-out pauses, the melodrama in the middle of an action... talk about over-dramatising things. This *could* have been an amazing series but fails to keep momentum due to long, drawn-out dialogue or slow, long scenes of little value. I found myself fast-forwarding scenes and dialogue to get to the point. The acting is good, the cinematography is good, but the dialogue and cutting lets it down.
Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020)
Surprisingly Good
This is worth watching just for Dan Stevens's portrayal of the Russian entrant, Alexander - brilliant acting and worthy of an award. Iceland's Final song is fantastic and I've already saved it in my Spotify playlist - another reason to watch the movie. One of the best lines in the movie for me was about elves taking things too far... had me & my friend in stitches.
Islam and the Future of Tolerance (2018)
A conversation
A really well made documentary on a conversation that is necessary yet occurs too rarely. There is no way you can not gain something from watching this. Both Sam & Maajid have great stories but they're told really well.
