The Last Blockbuster (2020)
A very long-winded and repetitive doc.
I was really hoping for more substance to this. The nostalgia trips from the various talking heads became super repetitive and a little annoying by around the halfway Mark. I wanted to see a LOT more company history, financials, screwups, etc., but those topics were very brief and glossed-over. For the amount of content, this could've been a 30 minute documentary. I love the story of the Bend location, but I wanted more than that.
The American Barbecue Showdown (2020)
It's... okay.
I like the premise. The execution is okay, but not excellent. First, upon a binge watch you'll realize the contestants and judges/presenters never change clothes. To me, that means these poor people got run ragged on an impossible schedule. Luckily, the judging was fair and the final 2 were as deserving as anyone else. The challenges were interesting, if not unique, and it showed the range off skills required to cook BBQ at that level.
