The Comey Rule (2020)
Focus is on Comey, NOT Trump
The 2-part series is not an attack on Trump but rather a presentation of how institutions, procedure, and rule of law work in America. The first part focuses on Hilary emails before the election, while the second part focuses on Comey's work after Trump gets elected.
It's an honest portrayal that's worth watching. The focus is repairing public faith in the FBI and DOJ.
Sputnik (2020)
Night of the Blood Beast (1958) remake
On par with Life (2017) and an interesting remake of Hollywood's Night of the Blood Beast (1958). Plot could have had more twists and turns, but no complaints with technical aspects, acting, directing, etc. It should have had a US theatrical release, especially for those who wanted a more serious take on Venom (2018).
Waiting for the Barbarians (2019)
No battle scenes; thought-provoking
Good if you like The Fountain (2006), The Crucible (1996), or Amazing Grace (2006).
It's not an epic like Troy (2004) or Braveheart (1995), although it bears similarities to Kingdom of Heaven (2005). There are no battles, so if you're looking for an action-packed film, I'd recommend any of the above.
This received a low rating because many viewers were expecting a war movie. Cinema enthusiasts who enjoy meaningful films will find that there's a lot to unpack here and great parallels to be made not just to what's happening in the world today, but what's happened throughout history.
Too graphic for children to watch.
