Rat Race (2001)
terrible!
I was expecting to see this movie in the worst 100 films category! I
don't know why it's got such a high rating. There's only a few laughs in the whole film, the actors in this film performed their worst performances in their careers. I'll give this film a 3 out of 10.
Mind Your Language (1977)
Best comedy of the 70's
I use to watch this programme as a kid, it was hilarious. I'll never forget the catchy tune music too. I wish they'd repeat again here in New Zealand. But knowing my luck, the political correctness of TV these days won't show it. Even though they show some vile programmes full of nakedness and profanity, it's hypocritical.
Waterproof (2000)
Unconvincing
I found this movie to be pretty average. As a christian movie I thought it was unconvincing especially seeing a few of the lead actors smoking! It amazes me how these 'christian' movies star celebrity actors who don't even know the Lord. There's a good acting scene when the mother gets hysterical in the house over her grandson getting injured, but besides that the movie seems to drag too long. As a christian if christian directors want to make convincing movies to see people converted, I think they need to stop being hypocrites and use actors who have a personal relationship with Him.
Inherit the Wind (1999)
excellant remake
I don't know why there are so many bad comments about this remake, you can't really expect these actors to better the original 1960 version. George C. Scott and Jack Lemmon did an excellant job in their respective roles. I think Lane Smith (who is usually an excellant actor) did a poor job though as Rev. Brown. I think Scott went out with a bang! He will always be remembered as a great actor.
The Pianist (2002)
A Must-See!
After watching this movie I had run out of tissues, because I had used them all during the movie. It was a very emotional movie, and it was good to see a personal view of a Jewish family living in Warsaw, Poland during the War. Adrian Brody definitely deserved best actor at the oscars, but the movie was short-changed when it didn't win the best film category!
This movie is definitely a 10/10.
Bowfinger (1999)
Put me out of my misery!
I saw this on my birthday with a few friends, what a big mistake that was. I should've stayed home and ate my birthday cake instead. Heather Graham was nothing but a whore in this movie, and Eddie and Steve were just talentless in their acting.
I don't know what kind of people will enjoy this kind of movie, probably only those who've escaped from a mental asylum.
Smokey and the Bandit Part 3 (1983)
funniest movie of the 80's
This is the funniest comedy I've ever seen from the 80's. People who put this film down need to go and see a head surgeon or they need to get personality shots, because I was laughing all the way through this movie. Every time I watch this movie I think of what a brilliant comedian the late Jackie Gleason was. This movie is a must-see for all Jackie Gleason fans.
Schindler's List (1993)
A Very Touching movie
I've seen this movie about six times, and I'm still amazed at how realistic it is. I can't understand how anyone can rubbish this film, they must be very cold people. You just can't rubbish a film that is based on the deaths of many innocent jews.
The acting by Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes was superb. This film is up there with classics like 'Ben Hur' and 'The Ten Commandments.'
Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002)
Could be more funnier!
I wasn't expecting this movie to be hilarious, but I thought it will be at least a bit funnier than the last movie, which was good. A lot of the jokes didn't seem to work, it was missing the same magic and timing that was in 'The spy who shagged Me.' From the other reviews 'toilet humour' has been mentioned quite often, which I agree is quite true. To be crude is not always funny, Austin Powers needs to go back to his originality of being funny, like in the last two movies. I don't want to be a spoiler but some of the stuff that didn't seem to work was the rap done by Dr. Evil and Mini-me, Dr. Evil trying to cut off his son scott in a conversation, and quite a few other instances. Michael Caine was pretty irritating as the father, I was expecting him to be more of a hilarious character, but he came across as a dirty old man. God help us if there's a fourth movie, if there's no originality in a next movie, it'll just go from bad to worse!
2001: A Space Travesty (2000)
Only funny to Aliens!
Leslie Nielsen is one of the most funniest comedians in Hollywood. He should've retired from acting with honour, before starring in this horrible unfunny film!
The jokes were childish, and I squirmed in my seat every time a joke was delivered. It's very sad Leslie has succumbed to this kind of silly nonsense, it was an embarrassment to watch.
I hope Mr Nielsen will go back to his hilarious roots and make more funny movies like the 'Naked Gun' trilogy, and 'Spy Hard'.
Down to Earth (2001)
unworthy to be called a comedy movie!
This is probably the worst movie I have ever seen, (yes it's even worse than Dungeons and Dragons and any film starring Kevin Costner.)
Chris Rock looked very uncomfortable throughout this whole film, and his supporting actors didn't even look like they were trying to act. Chris Rock is a wonderful stand-up comedian, but he just can't transfer his talent to this film, which probably only has two strained laughs in the whole picture.
If you haven't watched this film yet, avoid it like the plague. Go do something constructive and more interesting like watching the weather channel or watching paint dry on a brick wall.
For Chris' efforts I give it a 2/10!
